English Journal--Published every other month by the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE). The articles of the current issue are posted online.

American Library Association's Outstanding Books for the College Bound--Lists are broken down into fiction, nonfiction, biography, drama, poetry, and other booklists.

America Reads--California--Recent research and links about reading.

International Reading Association--"The International Reading Association seeks to promote high levels of literacy for all by improving the quality of reading instruction through studying the reading process and teaching techniques."

Junior High/High School Summer Reading List--Created by Paideia in Atlanta, Georgia. Each student is required to read five books over the summer.

NAEP--The National Assessment of Educational Progress, also known as "the Nation's Report Card," is the only nationally representative and continuing assessment of what America's students know and can do in various subject areas. Since 1969, assessments have been conducted periodically in reading, mathematics, science, writing, U.S. history, civics, geography, and the arts.

NEGP --The National Education Goals Panel is an independent executive branch agency of the federal government charged with monitoring national and state progress toward the National Education Goals.
