F. Scott Fitzgerald Centenary Home Page--Great collection of information by the University of South Carolina.

The Grapes of Wrath--a chapter-by-chapter summary of the novel, with accompanying list of characters,, and maps.

Nathaniel Hawthorne/Scarlet Letter--Includes biography, works--many, like The Scarlet Letter, with complete text-- and criticism.

National Steinbeck Center--Directions to the Center in Salinas, contents of the Museum, news of events, festival dates.

 

British Literature --

Chaucer, Geoffrey--contains a sketch of the poet's life (ca. 1343-l400) and times, a fuller biography, synopses of many of the "Canterbury Tales," other literary figures Chaucer drew on, like Dante and Boccaccio, commentary.

American & British Poetry--This poetry site at Bartleby.Com contains five separate collections of poetry. The collections may be searched by keyword, and browsed via: Indexes to Poems: Chronologic, Author, Title, First Line

American Verse Project--A collaborative project between the University of Michigan Humanities Text Initiative (HTI) and the University of Michigan Press. The project is assembling an electronic archive of volumes of American poetry prior to 1920.

Mexican Poetry of the Twentieth Century--Twenty different poets before 1940. Poetry can be read online in the original Spanish, with accompanying English translations.

Poet's Corner--"Our goal is to create the largest, most diverse, and most user-friendly public library of poetic works ever assembled."

Representative Poetry Online--Search for poems by name, subject, first line, time period, etc.

RymeZone--Enter a word and it will find a matching rhyme! Kind of silly but fun.
