SKILLS YOU WILL DEVELOP

1. Learn to use InDesign/ PhotoShop/Professional Web Sources, scanners and digital cameras. Demonstrate knowledge through quality work on page layouts.

2. Learn to create basic news articles according to an inverted pyramid style.

3. Learn to consistently meet required article deadlines throughout the course.

4. Learn business of newspaper production - contribute significantly to advertisement sales, promote grants, community donations and contacts, distribute and promote newspaper readership. Demonstrated through self, peer and teacher evaluations.

5. Learn to meet the job requirements of his/her respective staff position.

6. Develop at least one other journalistic writing style, i.e, feature writing, editorial writing, sports writing, etc. Demonstrated through articles submitted for publication.
