Dance Company is a performance based class by audition or interview only. During the first semester, all members must be enrolled in the '0' block class. This class begins at 7:30 am. During the second semester, Dance Company is an actual class held during 3rd block.
How to Become a Member of Dance Co.
At the end of each year, a dance workshop is held where interested dancers learn a dance and must choreograph their own dance. This three day process ends with an individual or group audition to the returning dance members and Mrs. Shanahan. Interested tech members go through the interview process earlier in the year and become understudy techs for the second show. If all goes well, they get the job!
What does Dance Co. Do?
Dance Company performs in numerous field shows, create, write, and run two dance shows, the Holiday Arts Fair, dance conventions, and perform for different organizations (Dried Fruit Association, school tours, Castroville Artichoke Parade). They must also help with auditions in June, take summer dance classes and attend a dance workshop or camp.
