Amnesty INTERNATIONAL
About Amnesty INTERNATIONAL is a worldwide grassroots organization which is dedicated to preserving human rights by helping people who are being threatened. Here at North Monterey County we have an Amnesty chapter which participates in activities of the organization. The main way that Amnesty helps is to write letters. The letters are sent to foreign political leaders who are doing things which aren't right such as torturing their citezens. These letters are short and to the point but they really make a difference in letting people know that we care. Other Amnesty activities include "chalking" the sidewalks and "Teach-Ins." People who are interested in current events going on across the world and/or people who want to help others would enjoy this club. Info Amnesty meets every friday at lunch in Ms. Grummon's/Mr. Rubenstein's room, room 1A. New members are always welcome. |
