SENIOR GRADUATION TRIPS? BE CAREFUL! Graduation from high school should be a time of great celebration and excitement! The graduates are about to embark on a completely new journey in life. Please heed my words of advice as Principal and a parent of two North County alums (97 and 03). Do not send your graduate on trips or tours that are not school approved. North County does have a travel club sponsored by responsible teachers. North County High is sponsoring two great events to celebrate graduation: the Disneyland Grad Night trip (May 27-28) and the All Night Sober Grad Party (June 11th). Both of these events will be carefully monitored with school staff and chaperones. I guarantee the grads will have a great time at both parties AND THE STUDENTS WILL BE SAFE. Many tour companies and travel agencies organize and promote high school trips to Hawaii, Mexico or the Carribean. I strongly recommend that you not send your graduate on any such trip not chaperoned by North County teachers. NMCHS does not even allow these private trips to be promoted on campus. Most every year I hear horror stories about these trips. These trips are frequently poorly chaperoned and the graduates are often put (or put themselves) in very risky situations. Believe me, it is appropriate for parents to say no to these trips. My sons didnt even bother asking. They knew the answer would be no. Think carefully of the possible consequences of such a trip. |
